On April 16th, 2026, HomeworkSMP experienced an outage that lasted 13 hours and 1 minutes, starting at 08:03 PDT.
The root cause of this outage is unknown. However, our records indicate that both the server and our network stayed online throughout the outage. The server seemed to experience some sort of networking issue that prevented any incoming or outgoing traffic, creating this outage.
After a reboot at 21:03 PDT, the server recovered fully and the Minecraft server was available again to players at 21:08 PDT.
During this outage, alarms were not raised due to how most uptime trackers are also on the same server, meaning any attempted notifications were silently dropped. All notifications that were received only stated the outage as a minor incident, with no alarm raised. This caused the significance delay in server recovery, and will certainly be reviewed moving forward.
Throughout the 13 hour outage, we believe that no players attempted to connect to the server as our internal traffic map showed no traffic was routed through those ports. This means that no player experience was impacted during the outage.
I would still like to take the responsibility for the prolonged outage, and apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused towards offline/AFK farms.
